The Ministers of Water Resources in Iraq and Syria discuss the current situation of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers

Baghdad  The Iraqi delegation headed by Minister of Water Resources Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani held a detailed ministerial technical meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Dr. Cooperation in the fields of investment in the water and irrigation sector.

Al-Hamdani expressed his happiness for the return of the meetings in a serious and continuous manner, after a hiatus that lasted for years, whether at the ministerial level, the technical level, or remotely via closed circuit television.

The two sides also discussed many technical details to deepen joint coordination between the two countries to face common water challenges, stressing the importance of holding a tripartite meeting that includes Iraq, Syria and Turkey to reach clear visions and share the damage in times of water scarcity as a result of climatic changes and the lack of rain and snow cover.

The meeting was attended by a number of specialists and technicians from the Iraqi and Syrian sides.

It is noteworthy that the Iraqi delegation headed by the Minister arrived in the Syrian capital, Damascus, yesterday evening, for the purpose of holding meetings and reaching understandings to serve the interests of the two countries.
