The National Intelligence Service Thwarts An Attempt To Bring About 100 kg Of Narcotic Pills Into The Country

Baghdad, The National Security Service detachments, through continuous follow-up, intensification of intelligence and field efforts and obtaining judicial approvals, were able to arrest two accused drug and psychotropic drug dealers in Khazuka area of Rabea district, Nineveh Governorate, near the Iraqi-Syrian border.

Major General Yahia Rasool said, “The process of arresting them after luring them and setting up a tight ambush for them while they were trying to bring these poisons from Syrian lands to Iraq, and they were seized with about (300) bags of narcotic pills, each bag containing (2000) pills, which is equivalent to (100) kg”.

He added that the operation was carried out in coordination between the National Intelligence Service and the holding units represented by the 71st Brigade in the 15th Division on the separating border, and the vehicle they were traveling in was seized, as the necessary legal measures were taken against them.
