The Netherlands calls on its citizens to leave Iraq

Baghdad, The Netherlands called on its citizens to leave Iraq and not to remain in the Kurdistan region except for necessity.

In a statement, the Dutch Foreign Ministry warned Dutch citizens that the situation in Iraq “may deteriorate more rapidly” in light of developments in the war between Israel and Gaza.

The Ministry noted the increase in tensions in other countries in the Middle East following the war between Hamas and Israel, warning of the dangers of large demonstrations, especially in large cities.

The US State Department had called on American citizens not to travel to Iraq for security reasons, while deciding to reduce the staff of its embassy in Baghdad.
