The President of the Republic discusses with the French Foreign Minister bilateral relations and ways to develop them

Baghdad  President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, discussed at his residence in New York, on the sidelines of the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, bilateral relations and ways to develop them.

A presidential statement said that the two sides discussed the growing Iraqi-French relations and ways to develop them in various fields, including economic and trade, and the French contribution to supporting Iraq in the fight against terrorism and humanitarian aid.

President Salih stressed that Iraq is looking forward to the support of friends and allies in order to enhance its security, ensure its stability and the well-being of its people, work to defuse crises in the region, and emphasize the vital role of Iraq in this.

He added that Iraq continues its war against terrorist cells and to consolidate its security and stability and economic and commercial openness, and to work closely in the field of environmental protection and addressing the significant effects of climate change at the national level and in regional and international coordination.

For his part, Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian affirmed his country’s commitment to supporting the security and stability of Iraq, and consolidating its great efforts to ease regional tensions and the need for Iraq to return to its pivotal role in it, and to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
