The President of the Republic stresses the importance of coordination and joint action among the authorities to support the judiciary

Baghdad The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the need for coordination and joint action among the authorities in order to support the judiciary and consolidate the rule of law.

A presidential statement stated: “The President met today, Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari and Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani, and the head of the Judicial Oversight Authority, Laith Jabr Hamza.”

The President of the Republic stressed the importance of making efforts to resolve the issues of detainees and inmates, working on electronic connectivity to speed up cases related to convicts and detainees, and the importance of applying rulings fairly and impartially, while checking the files of detainees.

He pointed to the importance of drawing up a road map to clarify the mechanism of work in prisons and detention centers, and the need for coordination and joint action between the authorities in order to support the judiciary and consolidate the rule of law and the principles of human rights.

For his part, the Minister of Justice stressed that more efforts were made to resolve the cases of detainees, while the Minister of Interior stressed the importance of establishing clinics to place drug users instead of prisons and the possibility of benefiting from abandoned army camps.

The head of the Judicial Supervision Authority touched on the necessity of applying the automation system and linking files among the Ministries of Justice and the Interior and the Supreme Judicial Council, indicating that an abuser who surrenders himself can deposit him in voluntary clinics.

The meeting also discussed the importance of coordination between the Supreme Judicial Council and the Ministries of Interior and Justice, initiating the process of automation and linking among institutions, in addition to resolving the problem of overcrowding in prisons.
