Baghdad The Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, directed the formation of a committee to review the project to address climate change in Iraq and the Middle East (Reviving Mesopotamia).
The committee, headed by the Minister of Finance, includes ministers (Planning, Agriculture, and Culture) and representatives from the Ministries of (Foreign and Water Resources) with specialists whose job rank is not lower than that of an Undersecretary, representatives of the Presidency of the Republic, the Council of Advisors, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Environment (Jassem Abd Al-Aziz Hammadi) and Adviser to the Prime Minister (Mohammed Abdel-Hadi Al-Hakim), and Head of the Secretariat of the High Commission for Coordination between the Governorates.
Under the directive, the committee was given the possibility to use the expertise of those it deems appropriate and to host them to facilitate the completion of its work, it shall submit its final recommendations to the Council of Ministers within a maximum period of (45) working days.
The Directive is based on what was presented by the Presidency of the Republic regarding the comprehensive project to confront the phenomenon of climate change.
