The PUK affirms its support for the struggle of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state

Kirkuk A delegation from the leadership of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan headed by Ala Talabani, head of the party bloc in the Iraqi parliament, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine, Riyad al-Maliki, at his residence in Baghdad at his invitation.

Talabani expressed the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s support for the struggle of the Palestinian people to regain their legitimate rights, which were written by dozens of resolutions issued by the UN Security Council and the General Assembly of the United Nations.

She added that the positions of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan stem from awareness of the humanitarian, Islamic and fraternal responsibility in general like the rest of the peoples of the earth, in addition to the subjective dimension of the nature of Iraq’s relations with Palestine historically, and the long distinguished personal relationship of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan with the Palestine Liberation Organization and its factions, where Mam Jalal was associated with a deep personal relationship With the late President Yasser Arafat, most of the leaders of the Liberation Organization and many of its militants. It is a long-standing and continuous relationship by virtue of the bonds of the joint struggle against injustice and plans to rob peoples of their legitimate historical rights.

She said, “The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, by virtue of its leadership position in the Socialist International, seeks to implement its decisions regarding condemning the expansionary settlement policy of Israel, and the demand for the implementation of Security Council decisions regarding the establishment of the State of Palestine according to what the international community has agreed upon in agreement with the Arab countries, including the State of Palestine.”

For his part, Minister Al-Maliki expressed his special appreciation for Iraq’s stances that are identical between the official and popular positions, unlike in some Arab countries, in support to the fullest extent of the struggle of the Palestinian people and condemning Israel’s fierce attack on the Palestinian people, and its targeting of children, women and the rest of civilians, not with the intention of responding to military operations. The Palestinian Authority was to terrorize the Palestinians, to tame them and strip them of the will to resist the occupation by all legitimate means, as 200 aircraft launched their attacks on Palestinian cities in less than 20 minutes, killing 200 citizens, including 70 children and 40 women.
