BAGHDAD / Speaker of the House of Representatives Salim al-Jubouri discussed, on Thursday evening, in a meeting with MPs of the province of Kirkuk and members of the Electoral Commission for elections, the issue of the province of Kirkuk within the electoral law and ways to resolve the controversial materials.
Al-Jubouri urged, according to a statement by his office, a meeting on the need to speed up the consensus on those articles in preparation for a vote during the next parliament session.
Al-Jubouri said that "the MPs of Kirkuk today bear a historic responsibility before the people of their province first and in front of the Iraqi people, noting that any delay in the resolution of those materials will not be in favor of the province and its people."
Al-Jubouri pointed out that "the preference of the supreme national interest on the other is able to resolve all the problems related to those materials, explaining that the Kirkuk elections will be on time and that it is unreasonable and unacceptable to postpone or delay a longer period, whatever the circumstances and justifications."
