The UAE calls for an emergency session of the Security Council to condemn the Houthi attacks on Abu Dhabi

Baghdad The UAE called on today, Tuesday, the UN Security Council to “convene an emergency session to discuss the Yemeni Ansar Allah / Houthi / attack on Abu Dhabi yesterday”, calling on the council to “unequivocally condemn these attacks.”

According to a statement on the website of the UAE mission to the United Nations, “The United Arab Emirates submitted a letter to the Kingdom of Norway, President of the United Nations Security Council for the month of January, requesting a meeting of the Council, regarding the Houthi terrorist attacks on Abu Dhabi, which took place yesterday January 17.

The letter condemns the Houthi group’s targeting of civilians and civilian objects on UAE soil, in flagrant violation of international law, and calls on the Security Council to condemn the Houthi attacks unequivocally and with one voice.

The “Ansar Allah” group in Yemen announced, yesterday evening, Monday, the targeting of the airports of Dubai and Abu Dhabi and important sensitive sites in the UAE with ballistic missiles and drones.

The military spokesman for the “Ansar Allah” group, Yahya Saree, said in a televised statement that “drones and ballistic missiles were used during the attack carried out by the group against the UAE,” adding that Abu Dhabi and Dubai airports and the oil refinery in Mussafah were targeted, along with other sites.
