The United States… Confirmation of the first death from monkeypox

Baghdad The American health authorities announced the registration of the first death in the country this year due to monkeypox infection in California, indicating that the deceased had a severely weakened immune system.

The Los Angeles Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the death of a Los Angeles County resident due to monkeypox infection, indicating that the patient was suffering from severe immunodeficiency and was transferred to the hospital.

The health department did not disclose any other information about the individual such as age, gender or ethnicity, citing the need to protect “confidentiality and privacy.”

This is the first confirmed death from monkeypox. A Texas man, also described as severely immunocompromised, died last month after being diagnosed with monkeypox, although the role the infection played in his death is still under investigation.
