Baghdad The US Treasury announced imposing sanctions on 5 people, 3 Turks and 2 Egyptians, for their links with “Al-Qaeda”.
The US Office of Foreign Assets Control said in a statement today, Thursday, that imposing sanctions on these people aims to cut off funding for Al-Qaeda and destroy the networks that provide financial support to it.
Magdi Salem, an Egyptian lawyer residing in Turkey, who was named by the US Treasury as the main supervisor of many of Al-Qaeda’s activities in Turkey, was included on the sanctions list.
Also on the blacklist was the Egyptian, Muhammad Nasr al-Din al-Ghazlani, at whom Washington says transferred funds to support “Al-Qaeda” and 3 Turkish citizens linked to it.
