The two presidents held intensive strategic negotiations, during which they discussed common interests and viewpoints, and agreed to cooperate on both issues.
According to the White House statement, Biden seeks to avoid an “unintended conflict” in US-Chinese relations, noting that the two leaders discussed the two countries’ responsibility to ensure that competition does not escalate into conflict.
