Istanbul The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked its citizens to avoid traveling to Yemen except in cases of necessity.
A statement issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Monday that “in view of the currently unfavorable security conditions in Yemen, we recommend our citizens to avoid traveling to this country except in cases of necessity.”
The Turkish Foreign Ministry stressed the need for Turkish citizens to follow up on warnings and announcements that may be issued by the Turkish Ministry or Embassy in Sana’a, and called on them to exercise caution and take the necessary measures for their personal safety.
It is noteworthy that Yemen has witnessed, for nearly 7 years, a continuous war between the pro-government forces backed by an Arab military coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Iranian-backed Houthis, who have controlled several governorates, including the capital, Sana’a, since September 2014.
