Turkish army planes targeted PKK positions in the Hawkurk area of northern Iraq.

The Anatolia News Agency quoted the Turkish Chief of Staff as saying in a statement that "the fighter jets destroyed the hideouts and warehouses of weapons belonging to the PKK, after the monitoring of Kurdish elements were preparing to launch attacks against Turkish border points and bases."

The Chief of Staff confirmed that aerial targeting came in response to terrorist attacks carried out by elements of the separatist organization inside the country from time to time, against civilians and elements of Turkish security.
