The Iraqi Turkmen Front rejected the decision of the two Kurdish parties to choose a governor of Kirkuk.
“The agreement reached between the two Kurdish parties yesterday is contrary to the agreement under which all components of Kirkuk were to agree on a mechanism to choose a governor until the local elections,” Front leader Arshad Salhi said in a press statement.
“The sudden announcement of a bipartisan agreement on the governor is an attempt to impose a fait accompli, and we reject it altogether.
The two main Kurdish parties, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and Kurdistan, announced on Thursday the designation of Engineer Tayeb Jabbar as a candidate for governor of Kirkuk.
