Two members of al-Qaeda terrorist network, including a local leader, were killed in a raid by a US drone plane in central Yemen.
The United States is the only one to use drone planes in Yemen and is constantly targeting al- Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
“Two al-Qaeda militants were killed at midnight on Friday, including a local Commander in a US drone strike in the al-Hayqan district of al-Baydhaa province,” a US security official told a news briefing.
He added that “the air strike targeted the leader Abu Hussein al-Thuriyya and another named Dawood al-Sanani when they were on a motorcycle.”
Washington has stepped up attacks on al- Qaeda since Donald Trump took office in January 2017.
