Two suspects accused of smuggling oil products arrested in Baghdad and Nineveh

Baghdad, The Ministry of Interior arrested two persons accused of smuggling oil products and confiscated their vehicles and other products in Baghdad and Nineveh governorates.

The ministry stated in a statement: “The Falcons Oil Police, affiliated to the Third Energy Police Brigade in Baghdad Governorate, arrested an accused of smuggling petroleum products and seized his vehicle, a tanker type, due to the lack of official papers with the loaded product and changing the route of the vehicle contrary to the route specified in the security applicable approvals.”

It added: “A joint force from the Nineveh Oil Police Station affiliated to the First Energy Police Brigade, in coordination with the Intelligence and Personnel Security Divisions of the Energy Police Directorate, arrested the accused “B.TA” and seized his vehicle, which carried several materials, including tanks of different capacities, and plumbing and unloading machines, which were used in the smuggling of oil derivatives in Nineveh Governorate.

It continued, “The accused were placed in detention and the seized vehicles and materials were confiscated in preparation for completing the investigative procedures and presenting them before the competent court in accordance with Law No. 41 of 2008 on combating smuggling of oil and its derivatives. ”
