Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior stresses the importance of restricting weapons to the state and limiting the phenomenon of uncontrolled weapons

Baghdad, The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Police Affairs, Major General Adel Abbas Al-Khalidi, confirmed today, Tuesday, the restriction of weapons to the state and the reduction of the phenomenon of uncontrolled weapons.

The Police Affairs Agency stated in a statement: “Al-Khalidi chaired a meeting of the Permanent National Committee for Weapons Regulation at the agency’s headquarters, in the presence of the Director of the Relations and Media Department, the Director General of Planning and Follow- up, the Director of Identities and licenses, and a number of officers in the Ministry of Interior.”

The meeting discussed the decisions and results of the meeting with regard to organizing weapons data and establishing information bases for them, reviewing the previously prepared stages within the national policy to limit weapons to the state.

Al-Khalidi pointed out: “This security work requires a serious stand by all governmental and non-governmental organizations and agencies, unifying efforts for the success of security work, consolidating the concept of the state, strengthening mechanisms of cooperation with security forces, establishing a culture of societal peace, and limiting the spread of this phenomenon, which is the uncontrolled weapon.”

He indicated: “The Ministry of Interior, with the support of all parties in the Permanent National Committee for Weapons Regulation, is determined to end this file according to studied stages that will reap its fruits to achieve a secure society.”
