Baghdad US Ambassador Matthew Tueller said: I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the horrific fire in Al-Hussein Hospital in Nasiriyah, and I express great sorrow for the victims.
He added, according to an embassy statement, that our prayers are with all of the US mission in Iraq with the families of those missing, the brave first responders, and the medical staff who care for the wounded.
He stressed: The United States remains committed to supporting our Iraqi partners as they respond to this tragedy as well as the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
