US Navy helicopter crashes off the coast of California

Baghdad The Pacific Fleet of the US Navy said that a military helicopter crashed into the sea after taking off from an aircraft carrier off the coast of San Diego, in the southwestern state of California.

The fleet said, “The MH-60S helicopter took off from aboard the Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) and fell into the sea during periodic flights approximately 60 nautical miles off the coast of San Diego at 4:30 pm yesterday, Pacific time on August 31.

“Search and rescue operations are continuing, using a number of Coast Guard and Navy assets,” he added.

The fleet did not say whether the accident led to casualties among its members.
