WHO _90% of the world’s population has immunity to corona virus

Baghdad The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, confirmed that at least 90 percent of the world’s population has some form of immunity against “Covid”, warning against complacency in preventive measures.

Tedros indicated, during a press conference, that the decrease in vigilance leaves the door open for the emergence of a new mutant that is likely to spread and replace the currently prevailing “Omicron” mutant.

He added, “The World Health Organization estimates that at least 90 percent of the world’s population currently has some form of immunity against the SARS-Cove-2 virus, either due to infection or thanks to vaccination.”

The Director-General of the World Health Organization warned against the temptation to confirm prematurely that the emerging stage of the epidemic had ended, and said, “We have not achieved that yet.”

He continued, “The gaps in monitoring, testing, analysis and vaccination continue to provide ideal conditions for the emergence of a new worrisome mutant that could cause many deaths.”

According to Tedros, more than 500 sub-mutants of the highly contagious Omicron virus are currently spreading.

Countries reported to the World Health Organization a total of 6.6 million deaths from the virus, at a time when about 640 million confirmed infections were recorded, but the real toll is much higher, according to the World Health Organization.
