Basra The security forces, with the support of the army’s aviation, started today search operations in a number of areas north of Basra to search for wanted persons and confiscate unlicensed weapons.
The Basra Operations Command stated in a statement today: that the security forces, with the support of the army’s aviation, began extensive search operations in separate areas of the sector of responsibility, which resulted in the confiscation of light and medium weapons, in addition to quantities of various materiel in the areas of Al-Khisat, Al-Deir district and Al-Dabouni marshes within the northern sector of Basra governorate and the districts and regions of Zubair.
The commander of Basra operations, Major General Ali Abdul-Hussein Al-Majidi, confirmed, according to the statement: the continuation of the night and day inspection campaigns and the pursuit of wanted and outlaws.
He added that the security forces, through patrols and sudden checkpoints, were able to arrest a number of wanted persons, according to judicial notes, and they were referred to the competent authorities.
