More than 140 dead or missing in Florida building collapse

Baghdad Search and rescue teams found, on Tuesday evening, eight more bodies among the ruins of the collapsed building in the US state of Florida, bringing the confirmed death toll to 36, while 109 are still missing.

Western media outlets calculated that the rescuers were able to penetrate further into the site, after the demolition of a dilapidated sector of the building, which partially collapsed about 13 days ago.

The disaster occurred in the oceanic town of Surfside, Florida, near Miami Beach.

The search for victims continues despite the approach of Storm Elsa, which is expected to make landfall on the Gulf Coast in Florida on Wednesday.
