Turkish Presidency: forest fires are a national disaster

Baghdad Turkish presidential Spokesman Ibrahim Kalin described the ongoing forest fires in the country as a “national disaster.”

“Forest fires are a national disaster, and all our agencies, in coordination with each other, are making unremitting efforts to fight it,” Kalin wrote on Twitter today, Thursday.

He added that the Turkish Public Prosecution Office is currently studying the causes of the fires.

It is noteworthy that forest fires swept the provinces of Antalya, Adana and Mersin in the south of the country, and the evacuation of hotels has begun in some tourist areas.

The fires killed at least 3 people and injured more than 180 others.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed that his country will mobilize all energies to control forest fires and put them out completely and as soon as possible.
