Gaza: Eleven Palestinians, including three journalists, were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted several areas in the Gaza Strip early this morning. The Israeli army stated that it targeted “suspects” operating a drone.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a source in the Gaza Strip’s ambulance and emergency services told reporters that three members of a local media crew working with the Egyptian committee operating in the Strip were killed when their vehicle was bombed near the al-Zahra area in central Gaza.
The source indicated that the attack occurred while the crew was filming and documenting a “humanitarian activity” being carried out by the committee to assist displaced people in a camp near the area.
The source added that “a direct missile strike hit the vehicle, resulting in the bodies of the deceased being charred beyond recognition and causing serious injuries to others.” The source also noted the possibility of the death toll rising.
The Israeli army said that it is committed to the ceasefire in effect in the Gaza Strip since October 10th and asserts that its operations there target what it describes as “terrorist infrastructure” and threats to its forces.
In a statement, the Israeli military said it targeted suspects operating a Hamas drone in the central Gaza Strip. “Following the detection of the drone, and due to the threat it posed to our forces, the IDF precisely struck the suspects operating the drone,” the military said in its statement.
