165 Polling Stations Open for Special Voting in Kurdistan Elections

BAGHDAD: The Independent High Electoral Commission has announced the opening of 165 polling stations dedicated to special voting in the Kurdistan Parliament elections. This move aims to facilitate the voting process for thousands of security personnel.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Imad Jamil, the head of the media team in the Commission, stated that these polling centers include 749 stations accommodating 215,960 voters from the security forces. The voting process is scheduled to begin at seven in the morning and conclude at six in the evening. After polling ends, the devices used for verification and counting will cease operations electronically, and the electronic counting and sorting processes will commence. The results will be announced through tapes provided to observers at each station before being electronically sent to the data entry center in Baghdad. A manual counting process will then verify the electronic results.

Jamil also addressed the handling of complaints during the voting proc
ess, mentioning that the Commission has devised a special form to categorize complaints into red, green, and yellow, while regular complaints do not receive a classification. The Commission has previously received 43 complaints related to media campaigns, with 16 resolved and the remainder pending resolution. He emphasized that the voting process is progressing smoothly, with security forces maintaining discipline and coordination with the Commission.

The special voting initiative underscores the Commission’s efforts to ensure a transparent and efficient electoral process in the Kurdistan region.
