Baghdad: Interior Ministry said on Friday that the Rusafa Directorate for Combating Crime had arrested 218 suspects accused of various crimes over a two-week period. Interior Ministry spokesman Colonel Mohammed Ali Al-Hassoun shared that the directorate’s detachments arrested the suspects between Aug. 1 and Aug. 14, 2026, in connection with various crimes and criminal cases.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the arrests included the execution of arrest and summons warrants, as well as the apprehension of suspects caught in the act of committing vehicle theft, kidnapping, murder, residential burglary, motorcycle theft, and other theft offences, as well as attacks on security forces. Al-Hassoun noted that these operations were part of the Interior Ministry’s ongoing security efforts to pursue wanted suspects, curb crime, strengthen security and stability, and protect citizens and their property.
