34 Killed, Hundreds Injured as Pakistan-Afghanistan Clashes Escalate

Islamabad: Media reports indicated that the death toll from clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan has reached 34 people, and more than 400 injured, while a temporary truce was reached, supposed to last for two days.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated on Thursday, the second day of the truce with Afghanistan, that if the Taliban government wants the truce to continue, the ball is in their court, as he put it.

The United Nations called on both sides of the clashes to put a permanent end to hostilities and protect civilians, especially since these bloody clashes are the most violent between the two neighboring countries since 2021, after the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan and the United States and NATO withdrew from it.

Pakistan says Afghanistan harbors militants opposed to it, a claim the Taliban denies.
