35 attempts to smuggle narcotic substances through a border crossing with Iran foiled last year

Baquba, The security authorities at the Munthiriya border crossing in Diyala governorate thwarted 35 attempts to smuggle narcotics last year.

A security source told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that Al-Mundhariya port, northeast of Baquba, is under governmental and security control, and no case of smuggling of foreign currency has been recorded.

And the source indicated that currency smuggling takes place through unofficial outlets that are outside government control.

Iraq is linked with Iran through the Munthiriya outlets, northeast of Baquba, and Mandali, east of Baquba.
