5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Konya Province in Central Turkey


Konya: An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck Konya province in central Turkey this afternoon.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) stated in a statement that the earthquake occurred at 3:46 PM Turkish time and was at a depth of 18.73 kilometers below the surface. Its epicenter was in the Kulu district of Konya province.



The statement indicated that residents of the provinces neighboring Konya felt the tremor, especially the capital, Ankara. No casualties or property damage have been reported so far.
