Bushehr: An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck the city of Asaluyeh in southern Bushehr province, southern Iran, on Sunday.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute at Tehran University reported that the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 18 kilometers, 24 kilometers from Asaluyeh, and 32 kilometers from Kushkenar in Hormozgan province. No reports of damage have been received so far.
Iran experiences earthquakes of varying intensity from time to time. The most devastating earthquake was recorded in 1990, when a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck the city of Rudbar in the north of the country, killing 37,000 people and injuring 100,000 others.
