Islamabad: An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck northern Pakistan, causing tremors felt by residents in several areas.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Earthquake Monitoring Center in Pakistan announced that the epicenter of the earthquake was 120 kilometers deep in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan. Its impact extended to the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan, as well as the capital, Islamabad, and parts of Punjab province.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage so far, but the earthquake prompted residents of the affected areas to quickly evacuate their homes as a precaution.
