6.2-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Off East Timor Coast


Dili: A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of East Timor, Southeast Asia, today. The tremor occurred at 02:04 local time, shaking the region off the country’s western coast.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the US Geological Survey reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was located approximately 48 kilometers northwest of Banteay Makassar, at a depth of 96 kilometers. Despite the significant magnitude, there were no reports of casualties or damage, and authorities did not issue a tsunami warning following the earthquake.
