Baghdad: Papua New Guinea: An earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale struck Papua New Guinea.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was 625 kilometers northeast of Port Moresby, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Papua New Guinea is located in an area known as the Ring of Fire, which extends along the Pacific coast and is characterized by high earthquake and volcanic activity. This region contains 90% of the world’s active volcanoes.

There have been no reports of human or material losses resulting from the earthquake.
