Baghdad: The Ministry of Justice announced on Saturday the release of 650 inmates during the month of June. The ministry stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the monthly figure for the number of inmates released by the Iraqi Correctional Department during the month of June 2026 reached 640 inmates in Baghdad and a number of governorates.

According to Iraqi News Agency, among those released, there were 419 inmates who were released under various judicial decisions, while the number of inmates covered by the general amnesty law was 221 inmates. The ministry affirmed that the Iraqi Correctional Service continues to follow up and implement release procedures after the completion of all legal requirements, in accordance with the approved legal frameworks, and reflects its commitment to performing its professional and humanitarian duty with the highest levels of accuracy and responsibility.
