Israeli Army Restricts Use of Combat Equipment Amid Ammunition Shortage

TEL AVIV: The Israeli military has implemented a new regulation requiring senior commanders’ approval for the use of shells and other combat means, in response to a significant decline in ammunition stocks.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz revealed that this measure was taken as part of a broader strategy to manage dwindling resources more effectively. The decision to elevate the authority for approving the use of heavy weapons comes amid international restrictions on arms exports to Israel, which has exacerbated the shortage and contributed to heightened concerns within the security establishment regarding the country’s ability to secure necessary arms shipments.

This policy change marks a significant shift in operational protocol for the Israeli army, which traditionally maintains a high level of readiness and autonomy in field operations. The current situation poses challenges to this standard, potentially affecting the military’s operational capabilities if the short
age persists or escalates.
