HAIFA: A drone explosion in Binyamina, south of Haifa, resulted in three fatalities and 67 injuries, Israeli media reported on Sunday evening. The incident, which marks a significant escalation in regional tensions, saw a sophisticated attack involving a drone that managed to bypass air defense systems.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Israeli Army Radio revealed that Hezbollah orchestrated the attack, deploying a barrage of missiles to distract air defenses while the drone targeted the site. The army radio stated, ‘Hezbollah succeeded in deceiving the air defense system and launched a barrage of missiles to cover up the drone,” which subsequently fired a missile before exploding at the location.

In response to the attack, the Israeli army has initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the drone’s undetected approach and subsequent explosion near Binyamina. The military confirmed that the air force had earlier intercepted another drone launched from Lebanese territory in the northe
rn marine area, which did not activate any warning systems.

This incident follows reports from earlier in the day where Israeli media had disclosed that Hezbollah launched a combined drone and missile offensive against northern Israel. The severity of this latest attack is underscored by the high number of casualties, including nine individuals who are reportedly in critical condition.
