Baghdad: A prominent lawyer from Baghdad narrowly escaped an assassination attempt Thursday near Al-Shaab’s Court, according to the Iraqi Bar Association.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Iraqi Bar Association released a statement detailing the incident involving Hussam al-Din Abdul Latif Jassim, a lawyer associated with the Karrada Chamber. The Association described the event as a “treacherous assassination attempt” and reported that Jassim was attacked by the brothers of an opposing party in one of his cases. The assault involved gunfire, which Jassim fortunately survived.
The Association strongly condemned the attack, labeling it as “sinful.” It also highlighted its ongoing efforts to coordinate with security authorities to capture and prosecute the perpetrators responsible for this crime. Furthermore, the statement emphasized the importance of lawyer safety during the fulfillment of their professional duties, underscoring the necessity for legal and security guarantees to protect legal pract
