Iraq and Ireland Move to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Dublin: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, Fuad Hussein, held discussions today with his Irish counterpart, Michael Martin, at the Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, aiming to enhance bilateral ties and address regional issues.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on the enhancement of political, economic, and legal relations between Iraq and Ireland. The ministers also discussed the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to halt the aggression in Gaza and Lebanon. Hussein expressed concerns that the international divide on these issues could potentially expand the conflict, further impacting the global economy.

During the talks, Hussein highlighted Iraq’s potential as a fertile ground for investment, especially in sectors like finance, agriculture, dairy, and healthcare. He invited Irish companies and experts to explore opportunities in these areas. A memorandum of political consultations was signed
between the two nations during the meeting, underlining the commitment to develop friendly relations and exchange information on various bilateral, regional, and international matters.

The meeting concluded with Hussein extending an official invitation to Martin to visit Iraq, which Martin agreed to accept soon.
