Zagreb: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein inaugurated the new Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Zagreb, Croatia, marking a significant step in bolstering the diplomatic and cooperative relations between Iraq and Croatia.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the embassy’s inauguration as a move to “strengthen relations between Iraq and Croatia and consolidate the foundations of cooperation and friendship between the two countries.” The ceremony saw the presence of several dignitaries including Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs Gordan Radman, Croatian Ambassador to Iraq Ivan Jurc, and representatives from various Arab countries.
During his address, Hussein emphasized the embassy’s role in deepening the bilateral relationship, reflecting on Iraq’s broader foreign policy achievements and its ongoing progress in multilateral cooperation. He expressed Iraq’s intent to expand diplomatic ties a

Hussein also affirmed Iraq’s dedication to enhancing its connections with Croatia across multiple sectors, including political, economic, scientific, and cultural domains. Highlighting the strategic importance of Iraq’s natural resources and geographic position, Hussein credited Croatia for its supportive role during Iraq’s conflict with terrorist groups, including military advice and contributions to international coalition efforts.
The ceremony also addressed the significant role played by the Iraqi and Croatian communities in fostering the ties between the two nations. On a final note, Hussein met with the staff of the Iraqi embassy in Zagreb, urging them to dedicate efforts towards enhancing bilateral relations and advancing Iraq’s interests internationally.
