Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani inaugurated, via a television circuit, Al-Mansour factory for the production of medicines and medical supplies in Abu Ghraib district, north of Baghdad, and Al-Mustaqbal factory for the production of intravenous solutions in Awerij, south of Baghdad, as part of the government’s program to localize the pharmaceutical industry.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the opening of these factories is a significant move in the government’s efforts to boost local production of pharmaceutical products. The initiative aims to reduce dependency on imported medical supplies and enhance the country’s self-sufficiency in the healthcare sector. The Al-Mansour factory specializes in producing a variety of medicines and medical supplies, while the Al-Mustaqbal factory focuses on the production of intravenous solutions.

The government’s program to localize the pharmaceutical industry is expected to create jobs and support economic growth in the region. By fostering local
production, the initiative also aligns with broader national goals to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure and ensure the availability of essential medical products.
