Baghdad: France has confirmed its intent to collaborate with Iraq in training its desert regiments, aiming to enhance military cooperation between the two nations. This decision was affirmed during a meeting involving high-ranking military officials from both countries.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Defense of Iraq issued a statement highlighting the meeting at the Command Headquarters. The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Qassim Mohammed Saleh Al-Muhammadi, the Deputy Commander of the Iraqi Land Forces, and the Commander of the French Forces in the Middle East. The discussions focused on joint cooperation in the field of training and the exchange of military expertise.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commander of the Iraqi Land Forces provided a comprehensive briefing on the operations and structure of the Land Forces Command. This included details about the Command Headquarters, operations commands, and regiments involved in military operations against ISIS terrorist gr
oups.

The Commander of the French Forces reiterated France’s commitment to continuing its cooperation in training the desert regiments. He also indicated the potential for expanding the scope of training to include areas such as artillery and armor, further strengthening the military ties between France and Iraq.
