Athens: Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan have affirmed their commitment to addressing long-standing disputes through dialogue, focusing on maritime borders and other critical issues. This development was announced during a joint press conference held in Athens, where both ministers emphasized the importance of dialogue amidst ongoing challenges.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Gerapetritis acknowledged the persistent difficulties in finding solutions but emphasized the ongoing efforts to engage in dialogue. He highlighted the significance of achieving peace, stability, and the protection of international law during times of multiple crises. Fidan echoed these sentiments, stating that both countries are dedicated to fostering mutually beneficial cooperation and will continue discussions until resolutions are achieved. He noted that relations between Turkey and Greece are advancing positively.

Both ministers reiterated their differing perspectives on
various issues but agreed on the necessity of enhancing cooperation to address shared challenges, such as irregular migration flows. They expressed concern that these challenges could be intensified by tensions in the Middle East and called for an immediate cessation of conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East to reduce tensions.

Greece and Turkey have been embroiled in disputes for years over overlapping territorial claims in the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, alongside issues concerning minorities and the Cyprus dispute. The recent dialogue signifies a step towards finding common ground and fostering cooperation based on mutual respect and international law.
