Riyadh: Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan emphasized that the Riyadh Summit is focused on reducing tensions in the region and finding a permanent solution that fosters peace. During a joint press conference with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hassan Ibrahim Taha, at the conclusion of the summit, bin Farhan highlighted the need to lift restrictions on aid delivery to Gaza, indicating that discussions at the summit centered on achieving a ceasefire and coordinating efforts for this objective.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Saudi Foreign Minister underscored that establishing a Palestinian state is crucial to resolving the Middle East conflict. The immediate priority is to halt the ongoing war and alleviate the suffering of Palestinians. He noted the escalation of hostilities in the West Bank and the expansion of the conflict to Lebanon, stressing the importance of ending the war and ensuring
that the international community does not overlook Israel’s actions. The summit aimed to draw attention to the rights of the Palestinian people and support their aspirations.

Bin Farhan expressed concern over the international community’s insufficient response to the war in Gaza. He noted widespread anger in the Arab and Islamic world regarding the situation in Gaza and suggested that a unified Arab and Islamic stance could significantly contribute to resolving the issue. He criticized the international community’s inaction and accused Israel of violating international and humanitarian laws, warning of the implications.

He reiterated the need for a renewed international commitment to a two-state solution and affirmed a continued diplomatic effort to achieve peace. While the summit did not produce specific decisions concerning Gaza, bin Farhan noted that the Palestinian Authority bears responsibility for the current situation. He stated that three organizations, representing numerous countries, will now coll
ectively address the Palestinian issue. Bin Farhan also highlighted the necessity of protecting Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
