Riyadh: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has criticized Islamic countries for their lack of action in response to the situation in Gaza, attributing the crisis to their inability to react effectively compared to Western nations that support Israel. Erdogan made these remarks during the “Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit” in Riyadh, stating that while Western countries offer all kinds of support to Israel, Islamic countries have failed to respond, leading to the current situation in Gaza.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan emphasized Turkey’s readiness to implement tangible proposals to make the Israeli government feel the consequences of occupying Palestinian territories. He urged for international support, encouraging countries to join South Africa’s lawsuit against Israel at the International Court of Justice. The Turkish President highlighted the grave toll on Palestinians, noting that 50,000 have been killed, with 70 percent being children and women, amid ongoing conflict.

n criticized the Islamic world for its inability to address Israel’s actions in Gaza and expressed Turkey’s commitment to humanitarian efforts, having sent over 84,000 tons of aid to Gaza. He accused Israel of obstructing aid delivery and aiming to eliminate the two-state solution by banning the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
The Turkish leader called for Islamic countries to take a stand against Israel and support Palestinian national unity. He pointed out that nine countries have recognized the State of Palestine since October of the previous year, expressing optimism that the Security Council obstacles will be overcome, allowing Palestine to become a United Nations member.
Erdogan viewed the participation of over 90 countries in the “International Alliance for the Two-State Solution” meeting as hopeful, urging the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League to unite on the Palestinian issue. He concluded his speech with hopes for positive outcomes for t
he Palestinian and Lebanese peoples from the summit’s decisions.
