Beirut: The Iranian Foreign Ministry has officially welcomed a ceasefire in Lebanon, demonstrating Tehran’s consistent support for the Lebanese government, its citizens, and resistance movements. This announcement comes in the wake of a prolonged conflict involving significant casualties and displacement.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei issued a statement expressing approval of the cessation of hostilities by what he described as the “Zionist regime” against Lebanon. Baghaei reiterated Iran’s unwavering support for the Lebanese populace and their government, emphasizing the critical need for an immediate halt to ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon. He highlighted Iran’s extensive diplomatic efforts over the past 14 months aimed at achieving peace.

Baghaei also condemned the Zionist aggression, pointing to the substantial human toll it has taken, with 60,000 people reported killed, 120,000 injured, and over 3.5 million displaced across Palestine an
d Lebanon. He criticized the support given to such actions by the United States and several European governments, noting the widespread destruction of essential infrastructure in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

The establishment of the ceasefire comes as a result of an agreement between Lebanese “Hezbollah” and Israel, which was announced by US President Joe Biden. This truce marks the end of more than a year of intense fighting between the involved parties.
