DIWANIYAH: Diwaniyah Governorate Police have arrested a man accused of murdering his wife and falsely claiming her death was a suicide. This arrest follows an investigation that uncovered inconsistencies in the husband’s initial account of the events surrounding her death.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the incident began when the accused registered a report at the local police station, asserting that his 28-year-old wife had committed suicide by hanging herself with a shawl. However, suspicions arose during the investigation, leading authorities to question the veracity of his statement.

The police source disclosed that upon further interrogation, the husband confessed to strangling his wife, contradicting his earlier claim of her suicide. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
