BAGHDAD: The Ministry of Interior has issued a statement clarifying the extradition of a wanted suspect to Kuwaiti authorities, following reports and images circulating on social media. The Ministry emphasized its commitment to fulfilling international obligations as a member of the International Interpol Organization and underscored the legal procedures followed in the case.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Interior stated that the Iraqi International Arab Police (Interpol) facilitated the handover of the suspect after receiving an arrest warrant from Kuwait and the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers. The statement highlighted Iraq’s commitment to implementing agreements and treaties with member countries of Interpol. The suspect, a Kuwaiti citizen, was wanted in connection with several criminal cases within Iraq’s territory.

The Ministry explained that the extradition process was conducted with due diligence, involving both Iraqi and Kuwaiti judicial systems to ensure all legal protocols were observed. The statement reaffirmed Iraq’s dedication to cooperating with Arab and friendly countries in security matters, as mandated by its membership in international organizations.
