Diyala: Organized crime combat squads arrested two accused of arms trafficking in Diyala. A statement by the Ministry of Interior stated that: “According to accurate intelligence information, the crime combat squads in Diyala Governorate were able to arrest two accused of arms trafficking, in a tight ambush, and seized in their possession an RBG7 launcher, a pistol, and a vehicle without license plates.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the operation was executed successfully due to precise intelligence that enabled the authorities to set up a strategic ambush. The individuals were apprehended with an RBG7 launcher and a pistol, highlighting the serious nature of the trafficking activities they were involved in. Additionally, the criminals were found using an unregistered vehicle, raising further concerns about their operations.

The Ministry emphasized that the seized items were handled appropriately, and legal actions have been initiated against the individuals involved. This arrest is part of ongoing efforts to curtail arms trafficking in the region, and authorities continue to work diligently to address the issue.
