Baghdad: The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, met with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, during his official visit to Iraq. The meeting, which was attended by Iraq’s Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, focused on discussing significant issues concerning both bilateral and regional relations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Office of the Speaker of the House released a statement indicating that the discussions covered a wide range of topics relevant to both countries and the broader region, in light of the rapidly evolving events in neighboring nations.

In terms of bilateral relations, Dr. Al-Mashhadani emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen ties between Iraq and Turkey. He highlighted the need to expand areas of mutual interest in a manner that benefits both nations, adhering to existing agreements.

On the regional front, both parties expressed mutual support for initiatives aimed at promoting stability in Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine. This includes efforts related to reconstruction, aid delivery, and fostering an atmosphere conducive to societal reconciliation.

The Turkish Foreign Minister reaffirmed Turkey’s dedication to maintaining robust relations with Iraq and its commitment to upholding the agreements made between the two countries.
